Council Puts Support Behind Grand Slam of Curling Event

Chatham-Kent Council put their support behind a local bid to host a Grand Slam of Curling event, the Pinty’s Elite 10, next September in a vote Monday.

The event, which would be held in 2018 at Thames Campus Arena from September 25 to September 30, would bring many of the world’s top curlers to Chatham-Kent for the televised event.

Sportnet, who televises the event, approved Thames Campus in a visit the Chatham.

With Council’s support, comes their agreement to foot the $160,000 hosting fee, $10,000 for marketing, and an additional $40,000 to the event organizing committee for various needs.
