Joey Atkinson Canadian Fall Shoot Out 2017 Summary
After being the fastest qualifying Late Model two nights in a row, Blenheim Ontario’s Andrew Reaume #88 was the weekends Joey Atkinson Canadian Fall Shoot Out points Champion. Racing hard Friday night with Eric Spangler # 27 of Lake City Michigan, Reaume drove hard but could not catch Spangler who took home Friday Nights West Side Performance Plus Late Model Feature win. Spangler, who is no stranger to South Buxton Raceway was met with happy family and crew members.
“I really like this facility, the friendly people here and the good people to race with” he said after being presented with the winners plaque. Spangler thanked his family, crew members and sponsors for
all of their support.
Brian Ruhlman #49 of Clarklake Michigan was the
West Side Performance Plus Late Model Feature Winner Saturday night.
Ruhlman, who has won the Canadian Fall Shoot Out eight times, began
the race third and quickly made his way to the front of the pack and
ran a lone race straight into Victory Lane. He thanked his fans,
family, the Raceway and his sponsors.
Reaume, who now has five Canadian Fall Shootout Champion Wins under
his belt, was all smiles in Victory Lane while being surrounded by his
family and crew members. With a best lap time in qualifying rounds of 15.16
seconds, Reaume put on a show at his native track manoeuvring through
lap traffic and chasing his US competitors. Surrounded by family and friends, he thanked his crew members, sponsors and all of his fans for their support. Up next for him is the Fall Nationals at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg Ohio.
Drew Smith #86 of Port Lambton Ontario was this weekends Joey Atkinson
Canadian Fall Shoot Out Modified Points Champion. After bringing home
the Friday night Schinkels Gourmet Meats Modified feature win, he
said he “was patient and waited for his time to over-take the cars on
the track”. Saturday night Smith began the race in the tenth position
and again, waited until the right moment to make his move on his
competitors. Patience paid off, and Smith was able to take home South
Buxton Raceways final Championship of the season. Smith thanked his
family, crew members and sponsors for all of their support throughout
the season.
Andrew Hennessy #08 of Picton Ontario drove an incredible race as he
sailed through the corners of the speedway Saturday night. Hennessy,
who races at Brighton Speedway, gave South Buxton fans a show being
the only Modified car racing with a 602-crate engine at South Buxton.
Winner of three consecutive Track Championships, Hennessy thanked his
crew, fans, South Buxton Raceway and sponsors for all of their
support.
Marshall Hereygers #31 had an incredible Saturday night during the
Chatham Pro Shop Mini Mod race. Hereygers was quick to sail ahead of
his competitors until misfortune struck and he had to end his night
and pull into the infield due to a blown motor. This gave Tim
MacKenzie #81 the lead he had been chasing all night. MacKenzie who
was hot on Hereygers tail the entire feature race drove hard fighting
off Andrew Pfahler #7x and drove right into the Winners Circle.Greeted by his excited wife Kathy, MacKenzie thanked his family, crew members, the raceway and his fans and sponsors and was ready to celebrate his feature win.
Dave Bailey #49 of Hagersville Ontario was Friday nights Thunder Stock
Feature Winner. Beginning the feature race fifth, Bailey quickly made
his way to the front of the pack and maintained his lead for a Feature
Win. Bailey, who normally races at: Humberstone, Merrittville,
Ohsweken and Brighton raceways, thanked his crew members, South
Buxton Raceway and his fellow Thunder Stock Racers for all of their
support throughout the season.
Some changes to the 2018 South Buxton Racing program:
After careful consideration Raceway Promoters Garry and Sherry
Lemesurier have decided to eliminate the Bomber and Sport Stock
classes. However, fans will be excited to learn that the Thunder
Stocks will be a permanent class at our raceway.
