The OHL’s London Knights have traded for Chatham, Ontario netminder Joseph Raaymakers.

Raaymakers, who requested a trade prior to training camp from the Soo Greyhounds, has been awaiting a trade for the last month.

“We are very excited to welcome Joseph to the Knights franchise”, said London Knights General Manager Rob Simpson in a team news release. “We are very proud to be bringing in a very talented player, who also has local roots.”

The London Knights sent goalie Tyler Johnson to the Soo Greyhounds, along with two 2nd round draft picks and a conditional 4th round pick in exchange for Raaymakers. The Greyhounds will receive the 4th round pick if Raaymakers plays a regular season or playoff game next year in his overage season for the Knights.

Raaymakers was the Greyhounds 2nd round pick, 37th overall in 2014 before playing three seasons with the team.

Last year, Raaymakers made 41 starts, collecting a 3.38 GAA and .889 save percentage. In the playoffs, he earned CHL Goaltender of the Week honours registering a 1.95 GAA and .942 save percentage in 10 games.

The 1998 born goaltender, who is a Chatham-Kent Cyclones alumni, attended camp this summer with the NHL’s Tampa Bay Lightning.

The London Knights are off to one of their slowest starts in recent history, sitting last in the Midwest Division with a 1-8-1 record through 10 games.
