Tartans Win Three In A Row
Game one had Wallaceburg against CCH from London who is 3-0 in there league play. The first half was a slow and sluggish start for the Tartans who had a slim lead of 16-14 at half. As play continued in the second half their strength in numbers held true with a 40-32 win. Leading the way was Laura Marcus with 14, Abby Mahu 13, and Gabi Whiteye 8.
The second game was against host Northern who handed the Tartans their first loss of the year on Tuesday night by 7. This was the second game in a row the Tartans struggled to score in the first half. With Northern leading at half the Tartans came to play in the second half. A great defensive effort and timely free throws made this game something to see. With no time on the clock down 1 and a shooting foul called Gabi Whiteye stepped to the line and made 1 of 2 to send this game to overtime. The fans in the stands made this game electric and helped push the Tartans to victory in overtime with a score of 34-32. Leading the way was Ferrah Blackbird 11, Laura Marcus 9, and Gabi Whiteye 7.
In the final the Wallaceburg Tartans were up against yet another tough opponent in Brantford Collegiate (BCI). Another disappointing start for the Tartans had them down 23-9 at half. With the second half underway the Tartans came out flying on both ends of the court. Shots started to fall and their defensive pressure shocked BCI. When the final buzzer went the Tartans out scored BCI 36 to 15 in the second half and a final score of 45-38 for their third consecutive tournament championship. Leading the way was Ferrah Blackbird with 21, Laura Marcus 8, and Gabi Whiteye 7.
Up next the Tartans host St. Pats in league on Thursday and get a well deserved weekend off.
