Bantam Wildcats Open Season On Winning Note
The Wildcat Major Bantam Girls won all 4 of their games for a perfect start to this year’s Ontario Basketball season.
In the first game the Wildcats defeated the York North team by a score of 40 to 14. Marissa Beselaere led the way with 12 points and 5 steals. Elliot Cowan added 6 points, 7 rebounds, 8 steals and 4 assists and Jillian Vickery had 6 points, 6 rebounds and 7 steals.
In the second game the Wildcat team faced the tough Sudbury Jam team and came away with a 42-39 victory. In this contest Elliot Cowan had 13 points, 11 boards, 5 steals, 3 assists and 2 blocks. Marissa Beselaere contributed 9 points shooting 3 of 6 from the 3 point line, Melissa Pardy had 6 points and Claire Cox five points.
In the third game of the weekend the Wildcats took on another tough team, the Etobicoke Thunder, and pulled off a close 32-27 win. Melissa Pardy led the way with 8 points, 10 rebounds and 2 blocks. Elliot Cowan added 7 points, 11 boards, 6 steals, 2 assists and 3 blocks.
In the final game of the weekend the Wildcats defeated Stoney Creek Storm by a score of 57-26. Marissa Beselaere, Sara Turner and Jillian Vickery all had 8 points, Elliot Cowan and Claire Cox added 7 points each. Solara Howe, Bella Bugros, and Taliah Belanger each added 4 points.
