The Blenheim Bobcats smothered the John McGregor Panthers in the Junior Girls LKSSAA ‘A’ Basketball Championship with a final score of 29-16. As was the case all season long, the Bobcats set the tone on the defensive end, forcing missed shots and limiting their opponents second chance opportunities by owning the boards.

Emma Park led the way on offence scoring a season high 16-points, while also anchoring the team on D. Strong defensive efforts from the rest of the Bobcats helped pave the way to the win.

The Bobcats then travelled to Lajeunesse for the SWOSSAA ‘A’ Final that saw them win a nail-biter with a final score of 30-28. Emma Park again led the way on offence, and anchored the defence like she had all season long. Strong contributions from Kristyn Kistulinec on offence and Erin Jenner on the offensive and defensive glass sealed the victory and SWOSSAA Championship for the Bobcats.

“These girls deserved it,” coach Wade Vermeersch said, “They’ve come a long way this season, showing great work ethic, even sacrificing some Saturdays to get better.”
