Three Chatham-Kent products helped the Western University Mustangs hoist the school’s first Vanier Cup in 23 years this weekend, defeating the top ranked Laval Rouge 39-17 to capture a Canadian university football championship.

The game, which took place at Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton, Ontario featured Connor Martin (Chatham), Zach Lindley (Chatham), and Austin Miller (Morpeth) as part of the Western Mustangs.

“It certainly is one of the best teams that I really believe to have played U SPORTS football,” said Western head coach Greg Marshall in school news release. “It was just a dominant team; to go undefeated and dominate the way we did in the playoffs, I’m really proud of these guys.”

Martin, a 6’2″ defensive end and CKSS alumni, had 3 solo tackles and 2 assisted tackles in the win.

Miller and Lindley are both in their first year with the team.
