Lakers’ Struggles Continue
In their worst home ice effort of the season, the Wallaceburg Lakers left their goalies pretty close to high and dry with some very ‘casual’ defensive play, especially in their own end, falling 10-2 to the Dresden Jr. Kings.
Out-shot 55-28, the Lakers seemed to allow the Kings free reign in the Wallaceburg end for most of the night.
Geoffry VandenBoorn had 3 goals and 2 assists while his brother Nolan chipped in with a goal and 3 assists.
Aidan Lachine added 2 more markers for the Jr Kings who chased the Lakers starter Travis Moore just short of the half way point in the 2nd Period.
Patrick Timpany then made some great stops over the rest of the game to keep the score from going through the roof.
The Lakers’ annual Teddy Bear Toss on the other hand was a success with lots of stuffed toys being collected following K.J. Fontenot’s 3rd goal of the season at 19:41 of the first period.
A Penalty Shot goal from Drew Fisher, his 5th of the season, brought the Lakers to within’ 2 goals of Dresden early in the 2nd period, but that was as close as they got.
It was 4-1 after 1, 8-2 after 2.
Wallaceburg will play the rematch Friday in Dresden. Puck drops at 7:30.
