Madison Broad sets sights on 2020 Olympics

A local athlete has her sights set on the 2020 Olympics.

Wallaceburg’s Madison Broad says she’s been working hard since she started swimming.

“I’m trying to pass everyone’s time in the country so I can be eligible for the Olympics one day. I’m practicing twice a day every week – 2 hours in the morning, 1 hour at night. I get up at about 3:45 in the morning and I eat breakfast and I get to the pool for 5:00 am”, says Broad.

The 17-year-old is on the Chatham Y Pool Sharks team, and recently signed with the University of Toledo.

In the meantime, she says she has a meet coming up in the New Year.

“I’m going to Austin, Texas from January 8th-15th – it’s a really big meet for me”, says Broad.

The next summer games are taking place in Tokyo, Japan.
