Blades Acquire Oberg from Lakers
The Blenheim Blades have upgraded their offensive depth chart with the acquisition of forward Josh Oberg from the Wallaceburg Lakers.
Oberg, who hails from Dryden, Ontario, was in his second season with the Lakers. Born in 1997, Oberg stands 5’ 11” and weighs in at 195 pounds, and will add some size and experience to the forward lines.
In 19 games with Wallaceburg this year Oberg has scored two goals and set up six others for eight points, while during the 2016-17 season in 24 games he netted three goals and chipped in with five assists for eight points.
Over the two seasons five of his points have come on the powerplay thanks to a goal and four assists.
Oberg will likely be in the lineup Sunday when the Blades host the Wheatley Sharks at 7 p.m.
Sunday is also the team’s annual “Skate With The Blades Night” with fans urged to take to the ice immediately following the game to join the Blades players for a skate.
Thursday night the Blades will travel to Petrolia to play the Flyers at 7:30, and then head to Dresden Friday for a 7:30 contest with the Kings.
The Blades are currently tied with the Sharks for seventh place in the nine-team Provincial Junior Hockey League’s Stobbs Division. Both teams have 24 points.
