Grayson Ladd Traded To The Windsor Spitfires
Ladd, who was Kitchener’s first round draft pick, 13th overall this year, was part of a blockbusters earl made by the rebuilding Windsor Spitfires, which saw NHL first round pick Logan Brown, who started the season with the Ottawa Senators and Austin McEneny sent to the Rangers.
“Being from the Chatham area, Grayson is a kid we’ve seen a lot over the last couple years,” said Windsor GM Warren Rychel in a team news release. “He’s got so many tools to work with.”
“This deal helps put us on track to focus on developing young players and to being strong year after year. That’s what you hope our fans understand. As great as last year’s Memorial Cup title was, it’s time to move forward,” Rychel continued abut the trade, which also saw the Spitfires receive a package of drafts picks.
“It is heartbreaking to see Grayson go and we wish him all the best in Windsor,” said Kitchener Rangers general manager Mike McKenzie in their team’s news release. “He is going to develop into a great player in this league and will be missed in Kitchener on and off the ice.”
Ladd, who captained the Chatham-Kent Cyclones minor midget team last season, had one assist in his first 22 OHL games this year in Kitchener.
