Tanner Cole Selected 7th Overall In OLA Draft

Wallaceburg’s Tanner Cole heard his named called early in the Ontario Junior A Lacrosse League Draft on Sunday, as the local product was selected 7th overall.

Cole, a Wallaceburg Lacrosse player, was chosen 7th overall by the Barrie Lakeshores Junior A team in the first round of the OLA Draft.

Tanner Cole split the 2017 lacrosse season between the Wallaceburg Midget team, and also played 8 games with the Wallaceburg Red Devils Junior B team, scoring 25 points, before adding 3 points in 4 playoff games. Cole also scored more than a point-per-game in 2016 with the Red Devils, notching 12 points in 11 games.

Cole has also represented Team Ontario, including this summer, on multiple occasions travelling to the Canadian National Championships. He notched 16 points in 9 games at the Midget Nationals.

Last season, the Barrie Lakeshores finished last in the OLA Junior A league, finishing with a 3-16-1 record.

    Good for Tanner…not so good for the Red Devils mind you. You could see this coming from OUTSIDE of the arena…let alone inside, sitting in the stands. Barrie’s gain is our loss but hey!!! This is what it’s all about…makin’ it. And Tanner Cole will. [no emergency brake involved in his climb and momentum as he scales the ladder to a great future in the game. Enjoy Barrie.
