The reigning champion Essex 73s would not be dethroned just yet, as they handed the Dresden Kings an earlier than expected exit from the PJHL Stobbs Division playoffs.

Dresden, who finished above Essex in the regular season standings, was ousted in game six of their Stobbs semi-final series Tuesday night, falling 5-1 to Essex.

Rookie Aidan Lachine had the lone Essex 73s goal, with an assist going to Brodie Conlon.

Dresden was without leading playoff scorer Geoffry VandenBoorn, and recent Junior B acquisition Kenny Chisholm for the loss.

The Essex 73s will now advance to play the winner of the Lakeshore Canadiens and Mooretown Flags for the Stobbs Division title.
