The PJHL Stobbs Division has decided to renamed their Defenseman of the Year award after Ronny “Tuukka” Betterley, a passionate 7-year-old local hockey fan who passed away recently.

“In honor of local athlete Ronny ‘Tuukka’ Betterley the @PjhlStobbs Division “Defensemen of the Year” award will be named after Ronny this season moving forward,” the Stobbs Division Tweeted. “A big thanks to the @DresdenJRKings for bringing this to table. #FarmBoyStrong.”

The first Ronny ‘Tuukka’ Betterley Defenseman of the Year Award was given to Anthony Cristofaro of the Essex 73s. Runner up for the award was Austin Jennings of the Amherstburg Admirals.

Cristafaro, an overager with Essex, is in his fourth and final season with the 73s. He collected 12 goals and 28 points in 38 regular season games this year.
