Former Chatham Maroons forward Hayden Verbeek has signed his first NHL contract with the Montreal Canadiens, agreeing to a three year entry level contract this week.

Verbeek, an OHL overager with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds, had a career season in the league, recording 30 goals and 61 points in 67 games for the Greyhounds.

“Extremely honoured and excited to have signed my first NHL contract with @canadiensmtl, would like to thank my family, friends, teammates and coaches throughout the years for everything they have done for me. Dream come true,” Verbeek wrote on his Instagram account.

The 5’10” forward played for the Chatham Maroons during the 2013-2014 season, notching 27 points in 35 games as a Junior hockey rookie.
