New Coach and GM For Wheatley Sharks

After a disappointing season the Wheatley Sharks will have new personnel in charge of day-to-day hockey operations, with a new general manager and head coach stepping into the role.

Last year’s general manager, Pete Anthony, and head coach Dave Wiper, have both resigned due to personal matter.

Replacing them will be Thomas Grubb as general manager, and Josh Carnevale as head coach. Carnevale served as an assistant last year with the team.

Brett Oliphant who has OHL and OUA playing experience will also serve as an assistant coach, while the team is also considering other assistants at the moment.

“We had a very disappointing season last year,” says new general manager Thomas Grubb. “We lost 6 players alone due to season ending injuries. We would like to improve on our goal differential and special teams play, and overall team play.”

Last season, the Wheatley Sharks finished 7th in the PJHL Stobbs Division with a 13-24-0-3 record, before being swept by the Dresden Kings 4-0 in the opening round of the PJHL Stobbs Division playoffs.

“Our outlook for next season is to be competitive and finish in the top 4 of the league,” said Grubb. “We are going to implement more skill development in practice and more system and special teams play.”
