Lancers Rugby Teams Split At BCI Tournament

The UCC Lancers seniors and junior girls’ rugby teams competed in the BCI Invitational rugby tournament this week, splitting their action 2-2.

The senior girls opened their tournament with a win over Saltfleet 38-5. Tries were scored by Maddy Shakespeare Hathaway, Selena Bushey (2), Savannah Emmott, Maddison Segeren, and Justiana Mulder. Natasha Smids had 4 converts.

The senior Lancers then fell to host Brantford Collegiate 38-5. The lone try was scored by Savannah Emmott.

In junior action, UCC beat Saltfleet 20-12. Tries were scored by Gabbie Normandin, Janessa Blomme (2), and Brianna Dedecker. The Junior team then followed the path of the seniors, falling to host Brantford Collegiate 2-5. Chelsea Biernacki had the only UCC try.
