Audra Vanroboys Commits To Miami University
The Thamesville product has spent the past 4 years playing for Ridley College. Ridley is a private prep school located in St. Catherines, Ontario.
For Vanroboys, she loved each aspect of Miami, making both her hockey and educational choice easy.
“I chose Miami because it had everything i was looking for in a school,” said Vanroboys, who captained Ridley College this season. “Honestly, when I first researched the school I didn’t think I would be completely sold on it, but when I toured the campus I fell in love. The red brick buildings and open court yards, the enthusiastic student body, and the quintessential college town of Oxford, created an amazing atmosphere.”
This season with Ridley College, Vanroboys played 64 games recording 14 goals and 21 assists for a total of 34 points.
Although she had other options, it was the ability to focus on her academic goals, while continuing to play competitive hockey that led Vanroboys to choose the ACHA.
“I was also looking to take a step down from playing hockey every day, and with Miami having a strong ACHA women’s team I’ll be able to continue playing at a competitive level, while also prioritizing on my academics.”
Audra Vanroboys brother Lucas Vanroboys played Junior A hockey for the Nanaimo Clippers of the BCHL last season. She is a first cousin of local hockey stars Dane Fox, who plays professionally in Germany, and Trent Fox, who completed his OHL career this season.
