The Chatham Maroons are preparing for their spring camp this weekend, May 5-6 at Thames Campus Arena.

The team will welcome back veteran players, and a group of prospects hoping to earn early commitments from the Maroons.

“Heading into camp the coaching staff will be looking for players who play fast and compete,” says new head coach Kyle Makaric.

“With the excellent list of prospects Kevin Fisher has compiled we think this camp should have plenty of those two things.”

The Chatham Maroons will have holes to fill with starting goalie Ryan Wagner, defenseman Ryan Sarris, and forwards Noah Bushnell, Steven Fowler, Josh Supryka, and Bryce Yetman having graduated.

Makaric hopes some of the young players attending this camp will show they can begin to fill these roster spots.

“My expectations would be to see some young players showcase their abilities and compete for a spot in the main camp. For some of them this is their first taste of junior hockey and I am sure the on ice product will reflect that energy.”

The camp will feature games from 12-2pm and 3-5pm on Saturday May 5, and 9am-3pm on Sunday, May 6 (with a 1 hour break from 12-1pm).
