The Chatham-Kent Cougars Junior Varsity football team improved to 4-0 on the season, after a 31-13 win over the Waterloo Predators this weekend.

Chatham-Kent trailed early, but came back to maintain their undefeated season.

“Great comeback win while on the road,” said head coach Sel Jordan. “Congrats to our players and coaches for making the necessary adjustments to pull off the win to stay undefeated.”

Ethan Ciupka paced the Cougars’ offense on the ground, running in two touchdowns, while Nakoma Scott ran for one touchdown, and caught another.

Evan Torres connected with Scott for the TD, going 12-for-18 on passes, totalling 185 yards.

On the defensive side of the ball, Trevor Lawton had 12 tackles, 4 sacks, and forced two turnovers. Tanner Hoorelbeck had 9 tackles and 2 sacks, while Quinton Emerick had 2 interceptions and 6 tackles.

The Junior Varsity Cougars currently sit first in the OFC West Conference. They will host the Sault Ste. Marie Sabercats, who are 3-1 this season, June 30 at 7pm for the Cougars’ Homecoming Weekend.
