Maroons Welcome Recruits and Families For Signing Ceremony
Everyone will have full access to all players and staff. This is an exciting time for the players and their families, as they are making the jump from minor hockey into the Jr. B ranks.
“Not only is it an exciting time for the players and a huge accomplishment but it is an exciting time for the staff as well. These young players are the future of the Chatham Maroons organization,” says Assistant Coach Brett Hope.
“I’m not that far removed being a young guy entering a new team, it can be nerve wrecking but this is an opportunity for the players and their families to get to know each other.”
The recruitment class for the 2018-2019 season that will be attending on Sunday includes, Zach Power, Josh DiCarlo, Evan Wells, Cameron Welch, Jack Zekelman, Adam Harris, and Lucas Fancy. Not able to attend is Vincent Desanctis.
The Chatham Maroons have remained committed to signing local talent, with all but one recruit coming from the Southwestern Ontario area.
According to Hope, the Chatham Maroons aren’t done signing young talent. He comments, “This is an excellent start for us with a good mix of older players and younger players. We expect the older, more experienced players to lead by example for these younger guys. We still have some available spots that we are looking for interested players to compete for at main camp. We still have both 16 year old cards available and some spots open in the lineup.”
Main Camp starts up August 18 at Thames Campus Arena. This year’s main camp will include 6 exhibition games against Sarnia, St. Thomas and Leamington. All leading up to the GOJHL Showcase in St. Catherines on September 7, 8, and 9.
