Fantuz Expected To Retire This Week
Andy Fantuz is expected to officially retire from professional football this week.
The Chatham product, who is 34, had his career shortened by an ACL injury.
Fantuz will go down as one of the best Canadian football players to suit up in the CFL.
A former Hec Crighton Trophy winner as the best player in CIS football with the Western Mustangs, Fantuz started his CFL career with the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
While with Saskatchewan, Fantuz helped his team win a Grey Cup and was named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Canadian.
After becoming a free agent, Fantuz signed with the Hamilton Tiger Cats, where he played until his career ending injury.
He has been working with the Tiger Cats since.
An announcement on his retirement is expected to come this week.
