Sydnee Baker, who has proved to be one of University hockey’s top women’s players over the last two seasons, will bring her game closer to home next season transferring to play for the Western University Mustangs.

Baker, who was the 2016-2017 AUS Rookie of the Year with the UPEI Panthers, joins Western after two seasons with the University of PEI.

Although she’ll begin studying at Western next year, Sydnee Baker will need to sit a year before she can play due to U Sports transfer rules. She said the reason for transfer was two-fold.

“I’m changing schools to be closer to home as well as academic reasons.”

Transferring to a perennial on ice powerhouse like the Western Mustangs womens hockey team however, is an added bonus.
