MacKinnon Named All-American Scholar
Brooke MacKinnon, along with three University of Hartford women’s golf team members, have been named Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholars.
MacKinnon, a Chatham product and member of Maple City Golf and Country Club, recently finished her rookie season with the University of Hartford Hawks.
“This is a very difficult academic award to receive,” said Hartford head coach Pete Stankevich in a school news release. “It is a testament to how hard these players work during the year on their golf game and how seriously they take their academics. They are the true definition of the term ‘student-athlete.'”
MacKinnon finished the year with the second-best stroke average on the Hawks team, including 6 top-20 finishes in 8 events.
Her top results were a sixth-place finish at the Sacred Heart Invitational and a 12th place showing at the MAAC Conference Championship.
She finished with a perfect 4.0 GPA as a biology major.
Recently, MacKinnon finished 9th at the Ontario Junior Girls Golf Championship, hosted at her home course, Maple City, in Chatham.
