The Chatham-Kent Cougars Junior Varsity football team finished atop their division after an impressive 7-1 regular season.

The Cougars pounded the Hamilton Hurricanes 45-0 Saturday to close out their OFC season, and finish in a three-way tie for first place in the West Division.

“Great way to end off the season. Players were thrilled to play at Tim Horton’s field where the TiCats play. Now time to focus on the playoffs,” said head coach Selwyn Jordan.

Ethan Ciupka scored 3 TDs, while Nakoma Scott, Tao Bos, and Nolan Larouche each had one.

After the win, a tie breaker between Chatham, Sarnia, and Sault however, placed the Cougars ahead of the Sarnia Sturgeons and Sault Sabercats for first.

Chatham will face the Brantford Bisons (4-3-1) in the opening playoff round this Sunday at 7pm in Chatham at the Chatham-Kent Community Athletic Complex.
