Pegg Golden, Local Win Medals At Ontario Legion Championships

Morpeth’s Emma Pegg added to her already impressive trophy case this weekend winning gold at the Royal Canadian Legion’s Ontario Track and Field Championships in St. Catherines, Ontario.

Pegg won gold in the midget girls 800m with a time of 2:16.38. She also tok a silver in the 1200m event, finishing in 3:44.10.

Three other Chatham-Kent products – Alison Stephens, Payton Sabourin, and Will McCracken – also won medals at the Legion Championships.

Stephens won medals in discus and hammer throw. She threw 36.11m in the youth girls discus to win silver, and 45.99m in the hammer throw for a bronze.

With a jump of 12.00m, Will McCracken won silver in the midget boys triple jump, while Payton Sabourin crossed the finish line in 1:06.40 in the youth girls 400m hurdles, good for a bronze medal.
