Chatham-Kent soccer player Stephanie Brooks will play USports soccer next season for Wilfrid Laurier University in the OUA.

Brooks, who played her club soccer for the Eastside Kickers, chose Laurier for continuing her athletics and academics for a variety of reasons.

“I chose Laurier for many different factors, firstly I really enjoy the city of Waterloo and the opportunities it presents,” says Brooks. “I chose Laurier, specifically, because of the smaller campus size, which made it feel more welcoming and close knitted. It also helped that they wanted me to be a part of their women’s soccer team.”

Brooks, a goalkeeper who lives outside Dresden, and will study Anthropology at Laurier, says she’d like to contribute immediately to her new team.

“My main goal, athletically, is to assert myself as an asset to the team. I hope to show the coaches and the team members what I have to offer as a goalkeeper and the skills I can bring the team.”

Laurier opens their regular season August 24 against McMaster. Last year Laurier was third in the OUA West Division with a 6-3-7 record.
