The Chatham Attack U16 boys won the Elgin Middlesex District Soccer League Cup Championship Sunday in London.

They defeated the Tillsonburg Titans 3-0 in the final. Josh Balan scored twice and Stefan Borovicanin also scored. Ashton Van Helden had the shutout in net.

The Attack won the semi final 2-1 in a shootout vs Byron Norwest. Cameron Marson scored in regulation time while Christian Mastroianni, Colin Kloostra, and Josh Balan scored in the shootout. Van Helden was in net for the Cup Championship win.

“Our goaltender is one of the best I’ve ever seen in a shoot out. We’ve had three of them this year and Ashton is well above a .500 save percentage. His ability to read the shooter is very strong and he covers the net well,” said Coach Steve Kloostra.

“It’s been an excellent season, the guys are really skilled but they also play with a lot of grit. We are a tough team to play because we can beat you in more than one way, depending on the situation.”
