Kings, Blades Win On Opening Night

The Dresden Kings beat the Wheatley Sharks, and the Blenheim Blades defeated the Wallaceburg Lakers on the opening night of the PJHL Stobbs Division regular season.

Nolan Vandenboorn scored a pair of goals, while 16-year-old netminder Brett Brochu made 23 saves in net for his first career Junior win as the Dresden Kings doubled up the Wheatley Sharks 4-2.

Michigan product T.J. Saunby scored for Dresden, and Elijah Duquette had an empty net goal and an assist to round out the Kings’ scoring.

Alixe Saliba and Jace Leach scored for Wheatley in the loss.

In other Junior C action, the Blenheim Blades defeated the Wallaceburg Lakers 4-1.

Rookie Malcolm Campbell scored twice and added an assist for the Blades. Connor Wright also got his first Junior goal, while Nick Delyzer had a goal and an assist.

Myles Fraser scored the lone Lakers goal.
