Maroons Blast Rockets In Opener
The Chatham Maroons blasted the Strathroy Rockets 7-1 in their season and home opener Sunday in front of more than 1000 fans in Chatham.
“Great start to the season for our group. The guys bought in and played the up tempo game we have been preaching,” said head coach Kyle Makaric. “Our team top to bottom can create offence and we got goals from all of our lines tonight. Some things to tweak at practice Tuesday before we look forward to playing a good team in the Sarnia Legionnaires.”
Sean O’Brien had a goal and two assists, while Dane Johnstone, Jake O’Donnell, and Zach Power each had a goal and an assist.
Other Chatham goal scorers were Thomas Michaud, Josh King, and Nolan Gardiner.
Tristan Lewis made 24 saves in net.
Chatham’s Lucas Fancy and Brendan Mairs both play for Strathroy.
