Below are the Chatham-Kent election and sports interview responses for Ward 6, Chatham council candidate Michael Bondy. Remember to vote October 22.
Michael Bondy
Ward 6
I have been active in sports my entire life. From playing hockey and tennis as a boy, lifeguarding as a teenager, distance cycling, distance running, tri-athalon and continuing to play tennis. I have coached my son in hockey and also have taught all five of my children to swim, play tennis as well as many other activities. I am a sports fan of two not so popular sports. tennis and surfing.
Chatham is a sports town. I know how important sports is to this community. The athletic history in Chatham speaks for itself. I believe our youth sports organizations and school athletic programs are second to none.
I support the idea of a new twin pad arena. Cost, location, and what to do with the other arenas are all concerns that need to be addressed. They should be no debate that we need a new athletic facility.
Thank-you, Michael.
Why not a sports plex like other smaller have. There are others sports that need a venue other than just an arena. Look. T what Leamington, Veblen river and Komoka have for an example.
