Steve Shaw Wins Thunderstocks Championship

After an hour and a half rain delay fans got to watch a fantastic night of racing. First up, was the Auto Tech Sales and Service Thunderstock feature. Dominating the race and season from the beginning, Steve Shaw #96 was back in Victory Lane for a 7th Championship win of his career. Shaw was quick to take the lead Saturday night. Caution after Caution he was quick to pull ahead of his opponents and maneuver lap traffic for another amazing win. Shaw, thanked Garry and Sherry for giving his class a permanent spot at the Raceway. The class took off as the raceway saw 35 registered drivers, some like Gofast Teeple #11 driving 3.5 hours to get to the races Saturday night. Jody Mason #4H began the Feature race in 12th position and with impressive skill climbed his way up to second place. Happy with his car and setup, Mason thanked his crew and sponsors.

Teeple, who has been a fierce competitor this season keeps coming back because of the atmosphere, “This track is awesome, its crazy fast, the people in the pits are fantastic, and it keeps me coming back.”

The West Side Performance Plus Feature race had fans on their toes. Jake Hooker #38 was back, he had one thing on his mind – a feature win. Hooker held an impressive 3.2 second lead on on his second place opponent and maintained it the entire race. Hooker was met in victory lane by his beaming family, notably his Father Kirk who used to race the 38 Late Model at South Buxton Raceway. “Its cool to be in victory lane with Jake and the 38 car, my wife , daughter – its unbelievable”. This is Hookers first Late Model feature win of his career. He was excited it happened at his local track. A very humble and grateful Hooker thanked everyone who supports him and his racing career, giving a special shoutout to Garry Lemesurier before leaving the track to celebrate. Dale Glassford #60 was hot on the tail of Hooker, climbing from the 4th position into second. Driving hard into the corners , Dale couldn’t quite catch up to the leader and finished his race second. Tim Mackenzie #03 drove with impressive skill, but couldn’t quite catch the top two, he finished the race third.

“Finally, its about time we got here,” Jim Dale Jr #00 yelled in Victory Lane following the Schinkels Gourmet Meats Modified Feature race. Dale, who has been chasing a first place win for over a year was all smiles as he was surrounded by family and crew. Dale held an impressive 1.6 second lead on his opponents. An oil leak in the heat race had his crew working hard to ensure he made it out for the feature. Their hard work paid off as Dale was all smiles celebrating his win. He thanked his crew, sponsors and family for all of their support. Brad McLeod #11 began the feature in 11th position and climbed his way, car by car up to second place. Brian Speelman #22s finished third.

“Its good to be back,” A beaming Marshall Hereygers #31 said following the Great Canadian Oil Change Mini Mod feature race. Starting ninth in the feature, Hereygers waited until the perfect moment to overtake car after car making his way into first place.

“I would not be here today if I didn’t have everyone and all the support I do today,” a humble Hereygers said surrounded by his crew and family. Dylan Bonner #N64 who battled hard with the track traffic, couldn’t quite maintain his lead and finished the race second. West Bertozzi #K9, maintained his position and finished the race in third place.
