The Chatham Maroons have won four straight games, but their coaches, and players aren’t focused on the wins, they’re focused on the process that got them there.

“It’s always good to be in the top half of the standings but it’s not something we put a lot of value in at this point of the season,” said Head Coach Kyle Makaric about moving into second place in the GOJHL’s Western Conference, and continuing to chase the first place London Nationals.

“We are just interested in our process and what it takes to win consistently in this Conference. On any given night anyone can win so we have to keep focusing on the details. The results usually follow that.”

That doesn’t mean however, that Makaric was displeased with his team’s performance against the Leamington Flyers, who sit just below Chatham in the standings. Their play resulted in a 4-3 win for the Maroons.

“It was a good win,” Makaric said, “Leamington plays hard. They are coming off back to back losses and they played with a lot of intensity. It was good for our guys to withstand their push back and keep the lead for the whole game after scoring first.”

Next up for the Chatham Maroons is last place Strathroy Sunday, November 4 at 7pm in Chatham.
