Dresden Celebrating Ken Houston
The community of Dresden is preparing to honour Ken Houston in a big way this month.
Houston, who passed away in March, will have Dresden’s arena renamed after him to be the Ken Houston Memorial Agricultural Centre in a December 15 ceremony featuring several NHL alumni, followed by a dinner and dance.
The renaming ceremony will take place at 12 noon.
Plans are also in place for a statue of Houston to be erected outside the arena.
On December 14, Rogers Hometown Hockey will stop in Dresden with longtime Hockey Night in Canada host Ron MacLean and Tara Sloan on hand at the Dresden Kings versus Blenheim Blades game in Dresden.
Houston played 605 regular season and playoff games in the NHL with the Atlanta Flames and Calgary Flames.
