Baker Happy To Be Back On The Ice
Baker, who transferred from the University of PEI, had to sit out the first half of this season due to transfer rules. Now however, she’s back in the game and happy to be playing.
“It feels great to be back playing the game I love,” said Baker. “I’m excited to join such a successful group and add some more depth to this very talented team. I’m grateful that USports has given me this opportunity to compete this season and finish out the season with the girls.”
Western, a perennial powerhouse in the women’s hockey world, was likely just as happy to snap up the five-foot-ten Baker, who was the Baker, who was the 2016-2017 AUS Rookie of the Year with the UPEI Panthers.
In two seasons with UPEI, the Chatham product had 14 goals and 26 points.
Now, Baker is happy to be closer to home in London, and helping the Mustangs. She’s collected 1 point in her first 3 games this year.
“My experience at Western so far has been great. I’m lucky to be given this opportunity to learn from my teammates as well as our knowledgeable coaching staff. They’ve made the transition seamless and I couldn’t have asked for a better balance between academics and athletics.”
