Nicholas Representing Canada Again
Blenheim’s Breanne Nicholas will wear the Maple Leaf yet again, after being named to Team Canada’s Rugby 7s roster for the upcoming HSBC Women’s World Rugby Sevens Series stop in Sydney, Australia.
Canada will face Fiji, Ireland, and Russia in pool play during the event, which takes place from February 1 to February 3.
The former Kent Havoc and Wester Mustangs rugby player, and London St. George’s member, Nicholas has been a part of Team Canada at all major competitions in recent seasons.
In Canada’s three pool play opponents, they’ve played them all in recent events.
“We’re pretty familiar with the opposition and what they’re capable of. All three offer some challenges. We’ve just got to go out and make sure we get that mental edge and get a good start,” said head coach John Tait in a Rugby Canada news release.
The event this time around has even bigger meaning, as Olympic qualification for Tokyo 2020 is on the line.
