Lancers Second At Gore Provincials

The Ursuline Lancers boys and girls curling teams are home from competing in the Gore SchoolBoy and Schoolgirl provincial championships in Pembroke.

The boys team of Alex Jeromel, Austin Haddock, John Pumfrey and Caden Rivard defeated Fellowes, Westlane and Grand River to finish first in their pool at 3-0.

The girls team of Cora Vince, Erica Robertson, Kylie Farrell and Olivia Taylor finished 2-1 in their pool defeating Fenelon Falls and Georgian Bay while losing to North Dundas.

Both teams qualified for Championship Saturday!

At the awards banquet on Friday evening, Skip Alex Jeromel and second John Pumfrey were named to the boys first all star team for the highest shooting percentages throughout the round robin amongst the 8 players in each position. Congratulations boys!

Championship Saturday saw both teams playing two games.

The boys defeated AN Meyer 4-2 in the semifinal to reach the final where they faced the hometown team of Fellowes. The boys lost 8-3 and finished the event in second place in Ontario.

The girls were defeated by a strong AN Meyer team in the semifinals. This relegated them to the consolation final where they lost to St Theresa’s from Midland. Congratulations to the girls for finishing 4th in the province.

The teams would like to thank their coaches Jim Brackett, Amy Dumoulin-Jeromel and Blake Vince for their efforts this season and all of their fans for making the long trip to Pembroke or cheering them on from home.

Both teams are looking forward to the LKSSAA playoffs that start next week.
