Lil’ Sluggers A Hit Already
The summer season hasn’t even arrived, but Chatham-Kent’s newest youth athletics program, Lil’ Sluggers is already a hit in the community.
“We’ve had an incredible response to the Lil’ Sluggers program so far,” said Caress Lee Carpenter, convenor of the Lil’ Sluggers and Chatham Local Leagues.
Registration is already open for Lil’ Sluggers on the Chatham Golden Eagles and Chatham Minor Baseball websites, and there is still room for more youth.
“Any parents who have interest in signing their children up should know that this is the most affordable youth sport in CK,” said Carpenter of the program, which only costs $25 per youth.
“That their youth will be getting 8 weeks of fundamental skill development, a jersey, an end of year celebration where they will receive a medal for completing the program. Most importantly that this is a great introduction to team sports for youth and that we focus equally as much on teamwork, working hard, and following instruction as we do on how to hit, catch and throw.”
