Veccia, Stubberfield Win Alliance Titles With Elgin-Middlesex Chiefs
A pair of Chatham-Kent products, Zander Veccia and Adrian Stubberfield won Alliance Hockey Championships with the Elgin-Middlesex Chiefs over the weekend.
Stubberfield, a Chatham product, helped the Elgin-Middlesex Major Midget ‘AAA’ team eliminate Waterloo to win the Alliance title.
Stubberfield, who played for the Chatham-Kent Cyclones last season, had 13 goals and 26 points in 33 regular season games, but stepped up his play in the post season notching 11 points in 11 games, which was good for 7th in playoff scoring. Stubberfield also suited up for the Chatham Maroons three times this season, scoring twice.
They’ll now continue to play for a position in the Telus Cup.
Zander Veccia of Ridgetown helped the Major Bantam Elgin-Middlesex Chiefs win an Alliance title as well. Veccia appeared in the Alliance All-Star game this year and will be an OHL Draft prospect next season.
