Brooke Turner Commits To Mohawk
“I chose Mohawk College because I believe not only the school, but this team was the best fit for me. The school, overall has a warm atmosphere, and a beautiful campus. I was able to talk with the program Coordinator which gave me more insight into the Child & Youth Care program at Mohawk. I was able to practice with the team over my winter break. I had a great time practising with the team, everyone was very nice and welcoming it really felt like I belonged there. Coach Duffy and staff have all been very supportive through this whole process,” explained Turner of her choice.
Turner has starred in recent seasons for Wallaceburg Airhawks, having won multiple provincial medals, a pedigree her new coach, Kevin Duffy is excited to bring on board.
“We are extremely proud and excited to have Brooke join our program here at Mohawk College,” said Duffy. We always try to recruit character and Brooke has that in spades. In watching her play, we really appreciated the hustle and determination that she plays with. Brooke is a very unselfish player and her whole attitude fits perfectly into the culture we have here on our team. We believe that Brooke will add a lot of the small things that we were missing last year to help win games. Playing hard defence, finishing at the hoop, controlling possessions through her strong rebounding will all be tremendous assets to our team. After winning 5 consecutive provincial medals, we struggled last year for a variety of reasons, we feel that Brooke is the kind of player that will help get us back to being a prominent program again.”
For Turner, she’s achieving a goal that has been her target ever since she started playing basketball.
“Since I started playing basketball, I always wanted to play post secondary. I am very excited to know all my hard work throughout the years has given me the opportunity to play a game I love at the next level. I feel very eager about this new adventure because I am able to not only better my basketball game but I am able to better myself as a person.”
Yeah Brooke! We are looking forward to watching you play at the next level. Well done.
