Garret Day Headed Fore Wayne State
Garret Day will be teeing up with the Wayne State University men’s golf team next season after committing to play for the school.
The Chatham product, and Ursuline College student chose Wayne State for a variety of reasons.
“I chose Wayne State because it was close to home, and everyone that I met on the team and the coach was super nice,” said Day, who will study actuarial mathematics at Wayne State.
A member of the Jamieson Junior Golf Tour this past summer, Day feels accomplished to have signed to play NCAA golf, but he knows his work isn’t done yet.
“It feels like an accomplishment to have the opportunity to play at the university level, but I know I still have some work to do if I want to truly compete.”
That work will begin long before he steps on the course with Wayne State. In particular, Day will focus on improving all aspects of his game this summer with his coaches.
“This summer I will be working with my coaches John Dengel (Maple City Country Club) and Ryan Robillard (Ambassador Golf Club) to improve my swing and lower my tournament scores.”
Day will be the third local product on the Wayne State roster, as Brendan Seys and Carson McKinlay also compete with the Wayne State Warrios golf team.
