A fire at Wallaceburg Memorial Arena reportedly has destroyed all of the Wallaceburg Lakers equipment, and jerseys.

The fire, which took place Saturday morning, is under investigation by the Ontario Fire Marshall, with the cause yet to be determined.

Wallaceburg Memorial Arena has been closed for a month due to renovations, a move which has also sent the Wallaceburg Red Devils to neighbouring Dresden for the season.

According to comments in the Chatham Daily News by owner Ken Shine, the team is unsure if insurance will cover the costs of equipment, with these mounting costs considered a factor in whether the team will operate this season or not.

The other eight teams in the division should start a go fund me page to bring in money for the team to continue to operate…..everybody enjoys playing the Lakers, and easy 10 points over the course of the season
