Dresden Raceway Opening Day This Sunday
Dresden Raceway will kick off their 2019 harness racing schedule this Sunday, May 26.
M.P.P. Monte McNaughton and Chatham-Kent Mayor Darrin Canniff will participate in a ribbon cutting ceremony to commemorate the opening of the season, and there will also be an M.P.P. Monte McNaughton and Mayor Darrin Canniff Race.
Fans in attendance will also have a chance to win t-shirts and hats as the raceway marks the opening of their season.
“Opening Day is always a big day at Dresden Raceway with fans excited to be back for another year,” said track announcer, Gary Patterson.
Sunday will kick off an 11 day season that ends Civic Holiday Monday that will feature action packed racing.
“It’s such an exciting time of year. The grandstand is in great shape with a new roof and the horsemen are stoked get back to the Sunday afternoon tradition,” Patterson added.
“We have a great driver’s colony that come to Dresden every year with guys like Tyler Borth, Garret Rooney and Nick Steward as well as some veterans like Mark Williams and Donnie Rankin,” Patterson added.
Gateway Casino’s slots are still operation as they haven’t moved to Chatham which means that patrons will have more ways to win with full slots facilities at Dresden Raceway.
