Sarah Marchand Makes NCAA Commitment To Robert Morris
Marchand played last season for the Chatham Outlaws Midget ‘AA’ team, and split the season prior with the Chatham Outlaws Bantam ‘A’ team, and ‘AA’ boys hockey in Belle River.
A forward, Marchand chose Robert Morris for a variety of reasons.
“I chose Robert Morris because it has a good developing hockey program and is known for women’s hockey,” she said. “Everyone was so nice and welcoming and when I went to visit. I really also liked the location and campus.”
Robert Morris University, located near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was first in the College Hockey America (CHA) conference last season with a 13-4-3 record, and 16-14-6 record overall.
For Marchand, who will play in the PWHL next season with the Southwest Wildcats (Windsor), committing to play NCAA hockey with the Robert Morris Colonials has been a lifelong goal.
“Becoming a D1 athlete was a dream of mine from the moment I started playing,” said Marchand. “It’s such an accomplishment for me and I couldn’t have done it without my coaches, family, and teammates. It’s exciting to know I will be playing NCAA hockey in university. I’m very excited to see where this next chapter of my life will take me.”
Marchand, who will join Robert Morris in 2021-2022 season, is one of several recent Outlaws to make an NCAA commitment including Olivia Hilton (Dartmouth), Jessie McPherson (Vermont), and Emma Gorski (Merrimack). Wallaceburg’s Kaitlyn Isaac will also play for Cornell next season.
