This Chatham Resident Was Part Of The Last St. Louis Blues Team To Play For The Cup

Gary Sabourin

Gary Sabourin remembers the St. Louis Blues facing the Boston Bruins for the Stanley Cup.

That’s because the Chatham resident was part of the Stanley Cup final the last time the two teams met in 1970.

That season, Sabourin, who played 10 seasons in the NHL, had 28 goals in 72 regular season games for the Blues, and added 5 goals in 16 playoff games.

The Blues were eliminated by the Bruins in the final, including Bobby Orr’s historic goal.

Sabourin, who retired from hockey in Chatham following his NHL career, is the husband of Nancy, and father of Susan, Kevin, Amy, and Laura.

The Stanley Cup finals between the St. Louis Blues and Boston Bruins begins Monday, May 27.
