Balkwill Released From Chicago Dogs
Chatham’s Larry Balkwill has been released by the American Association’s Chicago Dogs, an independent professional baseball team.
Balkwill was in his first season with the Dogs, joining the team from the Windy City Thunderbolts of the Frontier League, where he’d spent the past four seasons.
The six-foot-four catcher was a previous draft pick of the Detroit Tigers, before going on to play NCAA baseball for the Siena Saints.
In 14 games this season, Balkwill had a .234 batting average. He had 1 home run and 5 RBI.
