The Kent Havoc Rugby Football Club is growing, this time to include a U15 girls team who will play in the Ontario West League.

Kent will open their team June 15 hosting the Brantford Harlequins.

“Entering the Rugby Ontario West league for our U15 girls is a sign that there’s a lot of interest in a contact sport for girls locally,” said Carol Moore, Kent Havoc women’s club captain. “We have 20 girls in this age category. It’s opportunity for the girls to expand their skills from playing in high school with clubs in neighbouring cities. It also means, if we play well, they will have the opportunity to play at the provincial finals in August. We are delighted this year with the interest in our girls and women’s program.”

Also on their schedule are games against Waterloo County and London St. Georges. The Kent Havoc U15 girls team will play a home and home against the three other teams in their league.

Their season will wrap up July 27, with playoffs beginning the week of August 7.
