Red Devils Working Hard To Win Respect
The Ontario Junior B Lacrosse League season hasn’t gone exactly as planned in the win column for the Wallaceburg Red Devils, but that doesn’t mean the team isn’t winning respect from fans and the league.
“I’m not sure that I have ever been more proud of any Team that I have coached than this group in the last few weeks and I feel that you boys deserve the respect of this town,” head coach Jamie Knight said in a statement he released online to and about his team.
“There are boys on that team that I feel haven’t been given the respect they have earned this season and they deserve to be recognized,” Knight continued.
Knight pointed to the fact the Red Devils have utilized seven midget players Ty Myers, Mason Whiteye, Kyle Bechard, Notah Hopkins, Shane Logan, Breck Rainey, and Jackson Oliver this season.
He also pointed to Wallaceburg’s two graduating players, Aaron Underwood and Matt Cousins.
“Aaron Underwood and Matt Cousins have been unreal at passing the torch and teaching this next group about the Red Devils culture and this group is paying their dues, but I believe that the foundation is there for a strong team in the future. Next season we don’t graduate anybody so in my opinion the sky is the limit.”
This group will all have at least 3 more years of junior lacrosse.
Despite their wins-loss record, Knight knows Wallaceburg loves and supports hard work, and he believes his team has done that and more.
“You have earned this community’s respect,” he ended with.
The Red Devils have two games remaining on their season, next Tuesday and Wednesday, and currently sit with a 3-14-1 record.
