Former Chatham Maroons head coach Bill Bowler has been named the new General Manager of the OHL’s Windsor Spitfires.

Bowler, who served with the Maroons from 2010 to 2013, followed by multiple seasons coaching and managing the GOJHL’s LaSalle Vipers, has been working with the Spitfires as their Vice President of Hockey Operations since 2015-2016.

He is replacing Warren Rychel, who stepped down as the team’s General Manager after 13 seasons in the role.

“Bill is set to hit the ground running after working with Warren for the past few seasons,” said team president John Savage in a news release. “We have every confidence in his ability to help keep the franchise moving in a positive direction.”

Bowler was a star player for the Spitfires in the 1980’s recording a whopping 467 points in only 250 OHL games.

The long time member of the organization will remain as the team’s VP of Hockey Operations.
