Girls Intermediate Griffins Make It Five
The Wallaceburg Intermediate Griffins girl’s lacrosse team made good on their quest to win their zone and advance to the provincial tournament. This is the fifth straight year they were able to advance out of zone 7.
At the provincials they will face some stiff competition with teams from Guelph, Six Nations, Orillia, Mississauga and Thunder Bay. The tournament runs August 5–8 in Whitby.
The Griffins are the defending “B” champions and are hoping to repeat.
In the zone championship, Wallaceburg got a bye and had to face the winner of a Windsor Warlock, Strathroy Screaming Eagles semi. Strathroy would upset the Warlocks to face Wallaceburg.
The Griffins would go on to defeat the Eagles by a 7-2 score. Ryanne Logan again had the hot hand with a hat trick. Hannah Soney scored a pair with singles going to Shkuhnodin Shognosh and Jade Barko.
